'Father' Star Trek gets his cosmic burial
For the first time in history, a "space-funeral" is being conducted.
Twentyfour people will be buried in space, One of wich is Gene Roddenberry, de spiritual father of Star
Trek. Also aboard will be LSD-guru Timothy Leary. The cosmic funeral will take place from the Canaric Islands.
Flying coffins won't be used, and their ashes won't be dispersed through space. Celestis Inc., the Texan company
wich will conduct the ceremony, will take 7 grams of ashes from each of the
twentyfour persons, locked in a clinder-shaped capsule the size of a
lipstick.
The 24 capsules will be attached to the third part of a Pegasus XL-rocket.
The Pegasus is a small carrial-rocket, wich will be launched from a militairy aircraft.
The most mportant goal of the launch is bringing the Minisat-1 in orbit,
a spanish scientific artificial-moon.
